You already know sam, si, je. Now meet the pronouns that go with them — the words for I, you, he, and she.
Serbian pronouns in the singular are refreshingly short:
JA = I · TI = you · ON = he · ONA = she
Because the verb ending (sam / si / je) already tells you who's doing the being, Serbian speakers often drop the pronoun entirely — Sam Marina works just as well as Ja sam Marina. But when you're introducing someone else, the pronoun carries the meaning: it's the only thing telling you whether you're talking about a "he" or a "she." That's exactly what this exercise drills.
